Hurricanes Recall Bayda From Albany
Aucoin reassigned to Carolina’s AHL affiliate
RALEIGH, NC— Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled left wing Ryan Bayda from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. To make room for Bayda on the roster, the team reassigned forward Keith Aucoin to Albany, the Hurricanes’ top minor-league affiliate.
This marks Bayda’s third stint with the Hurricanes this season. He was most recently reassigned to Albany on Oct. 27, and has posted two goals, two assists (4 points) and a plus-1 rating in nine games with the River Rats this season. The 26-year-old winger has averaged 8:35 in ice time per game while playing in four games with the Hurricanes this season. Bayda (5’11”, 185 lbs.) has scored eight goals and recorded 14 assists in 82 NHL games, all with Carolina. The Hurricanes drafted the Saskatoon, Sask., native in the third round, 80th overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, and re-signed him as a free agent in August 2006.
Aucoin, 29, returns to Albany after having been recalled to Carolina on an emergency basis on Oct. 21. He has played in five games with Carolina this season, recording two assists while averaging 6:33 of ice time per game. Aucoin (5’9”, 187 lbs.) has scored one goal and added five assists (6 points) in five games with the River Rats this season.
