Hurricanes to Honor Baseball Player Josh Hamilton
City of Raleigh proclaiming Dec. 12 as “Josh Hamilton Day” in honor of local product
RALEIGH, NC— The National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes today announced that the team will honor Raleigh native Josh Hamilton during Wednesday night’s game against the Ottawa Senators. The city of Raleigh and towns of Cary and Garner have declared Wednesday, Dec. 12 as “Josh Hamilton Day” in honor of the Athens Drive High School product who overcame drug abuse and personal problems to earn runner-up honors in the National League Rookie of the Year voting this past season for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball.
Hamilton, who hit 19 home runs for the Reds in 2007, will sign autographs during the first intermission of Wednesday night’s game on the concourse outside of sections 109 and 110. He will also be presented a special Hurricanes jersey by the team.
