Forward Chad LaRose placed on injured reserve

RALEIGH, NC— Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team has recalled forward Brandon Nolan from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. Hurricanes forward Chad LaRose has been placed on injured reserve, retroactive to Dec. 18, with a concussion.

Nolan, 24, is currently in his fifth season of professional hockey, and is expected to make his National Hockey League debut for the Hurricanes on Saturday night at Tampa Bay. The St. Catharine’s, Ont., native currently ranks tied for first on the River Rats in goals (11), second in points (22) and third in penalty minutes (59) in 29 games played for Albany. Nolan has totaled 34 goals and 50 assists (84 points) in 183 career AHL games with Manitoba, Bridgeport and Albany. Originally drafted in the third round, 72nd overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils, he re-entered the draft in 2003 and was selected in the fourth round, 111th overall, by the Vancouver Canucks. The Hurricanes signed Nolan, who is the son of New York Islanders head coach Ted Nolan, to a free-agent contract on July 2, 2007.
