RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forwards Keith Aucoin and Brandon Nolan, as well as defenseman Tim Conboy, to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. The players are expected to be available for the River Rats’ game at 4 p.m. today at Syracuse.

Aucoin, 29, has played in the Hurricanes’ last five games, scoring his first two NHL goals, earning two assists (4 points) and accumulating a plus-four plus/minus rating in that span. The Waltham, MA, native has played in 11 games with the Hurricanes this season, earning six points (2g, 4a) and a plus-six rating. On Dec. 13, the AHL named Aucoin (5’9”, 187 lbs.) captain for the PlanetUSA team at the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic, scheduled for Jan. 28 in Binghamton, NY. Aucoin leads the River Rats with 27 assists and 34 points, while playing in 30 of the team’s 42 games.

Most recently, the St. Catharine’s, Ont., native tallied one goal and two assists in Albany’s 6-5 loss at Portland on Friday, and now ranks second among River Rats skaters with 14 goals and 30 points in 33 AHL games. Nolan (6’1”, 192 lbs.) made his NHL debut with Carolina at Tampa Bay on Dec. 22, and has played in six games with the Hurricanes this season, earning one assist and averaging 7:15 of ice time.

Conboy, 25, returns to Albany following his NHL debut last night in Carolina’s 5-4 loss against Colorado.
