RALEIGH, NC— Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team has traded right wing Craig Adams to the Chicago Blackhawks for future considerations.

Adams, 30, has earned two goals and three assists (5 points) and 34 penalty minutes in 40 games played this season for the Hurricanes, averaging 9:47 of ice time per game. Born in Seria, Brunei, but raised in Calgary, Adams has played in 427 career NHL games, all with Carolina, totaling 33 goals, 44 assists (77 points) and 337 penalty minutes. Drafted in the ninth round, 223rd overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Adams ranks third in games played with the Hurricanes since the team relocated to North Carolina, behind only Glen Wesley and Rod Brind’Amour.
