Gleason to Appear for \"Dine Out\" Charity Program
RALEIGH, NC—Doug Warf, Director of Community Relations and Executive Director of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation for the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that Hurricanes defenseman Tim Gleason will appear at the Carolina Ale House in Cary on Tuesday, Sept. 23, to promote Communities in Schools of Wake County’s “Dine Out for Kids.” Gleason will be an assistant server, delivering drinks and greeting tables from 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., to help draw attention to the event, which raises money for at-risk students in the Wake County community. He will also sign autographs when his serving duties have concluded.

All six Carolina Ale House locations, along with more than 50 other area restaurants, are participating in the 10th Annual Dine Out for Kids event, donating a portion of the proceeds from each meal served on Tuesday to benefit Communities In Schools of Wake County. Communities In Schools of Wake County (http://www.ciswake.org) delivers quality tutoring and academic support to motivated but economically at risk students who face daily challenges of avoiding drugs, resisting the pressures of gangs, and the constant threats associated with poverty. CIS Wake has been a major beneficiary of the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation over the years, as the Foundation has sponsored “Hurricanes Academy,” an after-school learning center at Walnut Terrace, since 2002.

The Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation provides much needed funding to children’s charities and education programs throughout North Carolina. With ongoing support from annual special events and the corporate community, the Foundation has funded scholarship programs, youth hockey, educational and literacy efforts, children’s health programs, the arts and other children’s related initiatives. Annually, the Foundation provides cash and in-kind contributions of over $1 million to charitable and educational programs in North Carolina, such as Wake County Communities in Schools, Danialle Karmanos’ Work it Out Program, YMCA of the Triangle Area and the Boys and Girls Club. Every member of the Hurricanes organization is actively involved in community activities. The Hurricanes take great pride in the ability to have a positive impact in our state.
