If you have XM but missed Checkin’ In with Hurricane Tim, or if you don’t have XM yet, the guys at NHL Home Ice did post a short snippet of the first episode of the weekly feature on their site today. It’s pretty short, but gives you a glimpse into how the series will explore the life of the Carolina blueliner beyond the ice rink.

Also, because of Scott Walker’s surgery, Patrick Eaves will be stepping in to do in-studio television interviews today with News 14 Carolina and NBC 17 and an in-studio interview on 850 The Buzz. The 850 The Buzz interview should air in the 5 p.m. hour. Matt Cullen will still be doing an in-studio interview with WRAL this afternoon, as well as a studio visit with 99.9 The Fan at 4:15 and a phone interview on Primetime with the Packman (620 The Bull) around 5:10 p.m.

Tomorrow morning, the radio hits will continue, as Cullen will call in to 850 The Buzz to speak with Adam Gold and Joe Ovies at 8:10 a.m. Then, Gleason joins Mike Maniscalco and Dave Rothenberg on The Fanatics on 99.9 The Fan at 8:25 a.m.

It finally feels like the fog that is training camp is giving way, and you can see clearly to Friday night’s home opener. It sounds like the game presentation folks have some really cool stuff planed for both the home opener on Friday at the RBC Center against the Florida Panthers, and the big showdown on Monday night here against the Detroit Red Wings. It sounds hard to believe, but those two games are the only Hurricanes home games in the entire month of October, so hopefully the Caniacs will be in full force to kick-start the season before we hit the road for three weeks.
