Hurricane Warning Siren to Debut Friday Night

RALEIGH, NC—Pete Soto, Director of Advertising Production and In-Game Marketing for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will begin a new tradition with Friday night’s season-opener against the Florida Panthers at the RBC Center. Prior to each game, one Hurricanes fan will wind a “Hurricanes Warning Siren,” signifying that the team is about to take the ice. North Carolina Senator Elizabeth Dole will be the first Caniac to sound the siren on Friday night.

The Hurricane Warning Siren is an actual air raid siren, and it will be located near section 228, directly below the “Home of the Carolina Hurricanes” sign that adorns the upper bowl facade.

Tickets still remain for the Hurricanes’ season-opening game on Friday night against the Florida Panthers, and for Monday night’s showdown with the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings. The games mark the team’s only home games for the month of October, as the Hurricanes embark on a six-game road trip following Monday night’s game. Single-game Hurricanes tickets are on sale now and are available at the Time Warner Cable Box Office at the RBC Center, CarolinaHurricanes.com and all Ticketmaster outlets. For information on Hurricanes ticket packages, visit www.CarolinaHurricanes.com or call 1-866-NHL-CANES.
