Community: Walking the Walk
Walk for Hope
Sunday morning some of our Canes staff members arrived at the Angus Barn for the Walk for Hope with one mission…take it easy, do the one mile walk and go home with smiles on our faces. Hey, it’s been a tough two weeks.

However, upon arrival, Megan Aukland began trying to talk a few of us into the 10K option. As the race began, we all thought we had compromised on the 5k option. Too bad we didn’t see the sign for the turn-around point... Yet, the 10K ended up being a lot of fun through beautiful Umstead and the weather was perfect. Maybe that was their plan…tell you there is a 5k option…get you on the course and then trick you into enjoying it. The only advice I have is don’t eat a big bowl of cereal before the race or have a hockey game scheduled for that night…not a good combo.
All in all it was another great race and we were very proud to be associated with. This was our first year of joining at a sponsorship level and I was very impressed with the turnout and the event as a whole. If you have never participated, make sure you mark your calendar for
Start! Heart Walk
We are also partnered with the Start! Heart Walk this coming Sunday. Perhaps you have seen Cam Ward’s commercial advertising the walk, but we will be in full force this weekend as well.
Though the team is on the road, Glen Wesley will be making an appearance at the walk as will Stormy, members of the Storm Squad and several Hurricanes inflatable activities. To register, or to find out more info, check here
