As always, plenty of emails and phone calls are blowing up the BlackBerry as we prepare for our second consecutive game against the Maple Leafs. Some media alerts as we head north of the border today:

  • Tim Gleason will be in studio with Mike Ross and Phil Esposito this evening for his weekly segment, Checkin’ In With Hurricane Tim on XM’s NHL Home Ice channel (PHOTO GALLERY).  A car will pick Tim and I up outside our hotel and take us to the XM studios this afternoon.
  • Sticking with the XM theme, the television voice of the Canes, John Forslund, will be in the XM studios tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. with the NHL This Morning.
  • Some Canadian-based fans may have heard Peter Laviolette or Tom Rowe on 640 AM in Toronto over the weekend. Peter will do another interview with the station this evening at 5:40 p.m.

  • Ron Francis will be on Fan 590 in Toronto today around 12:40 p.m.

  • Rod Brind’Amour will sit down with a crew from The Score, A Canadian-based sports cable network, upon our arrival in Toronto this evening.
  • A little off the radar, Ray Whitney will sit down with a documentary crew in Raleigh before our flight to Toronto this afternoon. The crew is making a film about the band AC/DC and Ray will talk about his own enjoyment of the band’s music and how much AC/DC has influenced what fans hear at NHL arenas.
  • The team WILL have a morning skate in Toronto tomorrow, since most of the Hurricanes’ veteran players were given today off.
