RALEIGH, NC—Doug Warf, Director of Community Relations and Executive Director of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that Hurricanes forward Scott Walker and his family will visit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 8, at for Kids Day. Walker will tour the facility, present the Food Bank with a $20,000 check from the Foundation and then participate in Kids Day volunteer activities.
On the Food Bank’s Kids Days, children ages 5-11, accompanied by parents and chaperones, can volunteer their time to help the Food Bank in its work. Volunteers learn about the Food Bank, hunger and nutrition and the importance of volunteerism.
The Kids ‘N Community’s donation to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina will support Kids Days throughout the year. The Food Bank is one of 20 organizations to have received donations from the Foundation during its fall grant cycle.
