While the injury news on Monday was very good regarding one player, the outlook was mixed for some other members of the Hurricanes.

Goaltender Cam Ward, who injured his groin in the first period of yesterday’s loss to Anaheim, will probably not be available for the team’s three upcoming home games against Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Washington, said General Manager Jim Rutherford.

Rutherford also said that, despite coming back to the bench midway through the second period, Ward would not have been able to re-enter the game if needed.  Justin Peters will likely be recalled from Albany in the next few days to back up Michael Leighton.

Also likely to remain out are Tim Gleason and Scott Walker, who have still not skated since suffering leg injuries last week, although that may change once the team resumes practice on Tuesday.

Rutherford did say that defenseman Dennis Seidenberg, the team’s leader in average ice time per game, has a good chance to be back this week.
