You might have seen Mike Sundheim post audio of Paul Maurice's post-practice media session on his blog today, in which case I'll let the man himself explain how and why he had the team work on defensive zone coverage today.

I'd love to get some feedback from you guys on the interview audio, as there's a few different ways we can use that material going forward.  If you would like daily(ish) audio from the locker room, let us know.  If not, we won't go to the trouble.  You can use either the Contact (email) or Discuss (message board) links below to respond.

When we do have the audio, I'll post it with my post-practice blogs, and if you'd like, we can even put it on the podcast so that subscribers can have that automatically delivered along with The Hurricanes Report, Canes Corners and Kaiton's Corners.

  • As Maurice indicated yesterday, Dennis Seidenberg practiced fully with the team today.  I have to think he'll be ready to go for Thursday's game, because if he isn't, that only leaves the team with five healthy defensemen.  Unless the team is content with using Wade Brookbank on the blueline in an emergency basis, the team would probably have recalled yet another blueliner from Albany already if Seidenberg didn't have a good chance to play.

  • As for the other injured guys, Anton Babchuk, Frank Kaberle and Niclas Wallin were on hand to take in Maurice's defensive zone teachings, but did not skate.  Cam Ward practiced, although he split time with Justin Peters in a rare three-goalie session.

Tim Gleason also practiced, but in a not-yet-seen-before gray non-contact jersey.

"I don't wear yellow," said Gleason.  "I might as well not go out there."
