This time of year, every single point counts. And no point is easy. The Islanders came into the RBC Center today having gone 4-1-1 in their last six games, and gave the Canes as much as they could handle. In the end though, Carolina got two points. When you're fighting for a shot at the Cup, the end result is all that matters.

The Hurricanes have now won seven consecutive home games, a fact that Hurricanes Head Coach Paul Maurice said has a lot to do with the fan support in this building. In some cities, fans would be, let's just say, a little less supportive when the team left the ice after the second period. Here, the Caniacs were on their feet, attempting to lift their team to victory when the final period began. And that's exactly what happened.
