Speaking of Maniscalco, Mike is one of several local media types participating in the Beardathon, benefiting the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. I am still expecting a few additions to this list, but you can click on the names below to see each person’s profile on beardathon.com/hurricanes, or make a donation in his name.
Mike Maniscalco: The host of the Hurricanes’ pre- and post-game shows on 99.9 The Fan and the station’s Hurricanes Insider. Mike is a good man, but he has some serious growing to do beard-wise.
Joe Ovies: Co-host of 850 The Buzz’s morning show along with Adam Gold, Joe had a little bit of a head start on us all with pre-existing facial hair.
Jason Spells: The lone on-air television personality to get the go-ahead to participate (so far), you can track Jason’s follicle progress on News 14 Carolina.
Mike Sundheim: I did my first clean-up this morning, and will post a new picture on my profile later today.
Kyle Hanlin: My partner-in-PR actually shaved an existing beard to begin anew for the playoffs. That’s some serious commitment right there.
Lee Taft: Lee is a long-time Canes game night employee who normally handles stats for the visiting teams. He also shaved his beard for a fresh postseason start.
Media Alerts: Kyle and I spent our Easter Sunday producing the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoff Media Guide, which is available now on CarolinaHurricanes.com in PDF form. Kudos to our rock-solid office interns, Stacy Wells and John Dougherty, for sacrificing their Sunday evenings to come in and help us finish the book last night. If you want to see the guide, you can simply click on “Stats” on the main navigation bar on the home page, and scroll down to 2009 Playoff Guide, or you can click the following links:
Chad LaRose will join Hockey Night in Canada Radio today at 4:15 p.m. on Sirius 122 and Sirius 97. Matt Cullen will call in to speak with David Glenn on 850 The Buzz today at 5:45. I also encourage those of you with XM to listen to Phil Esposito’s show this afternoon/evening as he hands out this season’s “Espo Awards.”
