Bob McKenzie of TSN is reporting that Erik Cole has decided to an accept a two-year offer with the Hurricanes.  He's usually right on when it comes to breaking news with Carolina, so I'd consider this to be pretty reliable.

No word on dollar figures yet.  I'll update this space as more info becomes available.

UPDATE: Already official. 2.8 next season, 3 after that.

More is coming, so stay tuned.

(5:00): Whilst we wait for more news...

Cole can be a polarizing figure for Hurricanes fans, but there's no doubt that having him signed at a reasonable price makes things much simpler for the team going forward.  Now they don't need to enter a bidding war for a player they don't know as well, and they don't need to surrender more assets via trade.

Ideally the same occurs with LaRose, which is still a possibility.  Like Cole, he was not immediately snapped up by another team and remains on the market.

(5:21): Patrick Dwyer and Michael Ryan signed.  Still expecting another release at some point.

(6:35): Calling it a night - no news to come for now.  Look for something as the Canes front office picks it back up tomorrow.
