Interesting Updates from Rutherford

Just wanted to make sure everyone saw the video interview with Jim Rutherford that is currently gracing the front of our site. CanesVision Online got some good stuff from the GM, including updates on Tuomo Ruutu (one or three years?) and Dennis Seidenberg (not looking as though he’ll be back).

Also of interest:
  • With Seidenberg seemingly out of the picture, a trade is the most likely route to bring in another defenseman capable of playing with Joni Pitkanen in the top four.
  • That trade would involve a forward going the other way. The Canes would then look to promote a young player or bring in another free agent to replace him.
  • If the Canes are able to find that defenseman, Frank Kaberle would be bought out.
  • The team will look to move Anton Babchuk to another team for prospects.
  • The team views defenseman Brett Carson as being NHL-ready, and he could be a serious option depending on what happens between now and the start of the season.
