GAME NIGHT

The defending Eastern Conference champion Carolina Hurricanes host the Phoenix Coyotes at the RBC Center as the Hurricanes play the sixth game of a franchise-record nine-game homestand. The Hurricanes defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 on Saturday, and have earned at least one point in each of their last seven games (4-0-2-1). Carolina is 6-1-2-1 in its last nine games, all but two of which have come against teams that participated in the 2002 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Hurricanes netminder Kevin Weekes is 6-1-2 in his last nine games with a goals against average of 1.52 (14g, 552 min.) and a save percentage of .951 (14G, 283 SA). Weekes recorded his first regular season shutout with the Hurricanes on Thursday against Buffalo, stopping 26 shots.

CAROLINA NOTES
The Hurricanes are 5-2-2-1 at home this season after defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins, 3-2 on Saturday. Rod Brind’Amour (6g, 6a) is Carolina’s leading scorer at home this season. Brind’Amour has won 234-of-381 (61.4%) of his faceoffs this season and is ranked fourth in the league through games of Nov. 10. Kevyn Adams has won 107-of-174 (61.5%) of his faceoffs this season and is ranked third in the NHL in that category. Netminder Kevin Weekes is tied for third in the league in save percentage (.940), third in goals against average (1.78) and is tied for fourth in wins (7) through games of Nov. 10.

CAROLINA / PHOENIX NOTES
The Carolina Hurricanes and the Phoenix Coyotes meet tonight for the first of two games this season. Carolina won last year’s season series with Phoenix 1-0-0, defeating the Coyotes 1-0 in overtime in their only meeting of 2001-02. Josef Vasicek scored the game-winner 54 seconds into the overtime period for the win, assisted by Ron Francis and Jeff O’Neill. The Hurricanes are 28-22-8-0 all-time against the Coyotes franchise, with a 13-9-6-0 record at home and a 15-13-2-0 record on the road.

COYOTES NOTES
The Coyotes play at Tampa Bay on Monday before traveling to Carolina. Phoenix fell to Vancouver, 5-2 on Saturday night, before heading on the road. Coyotes forward Brian Savage played in his 500th career NHL game against the Canucks. Phoenix is 80-of-94 (85.1%) in shorthanded situations this season, ranking eighth in the league.
