FS Carolinas Announces Canes HD Schedule

RALEIGH, NC—FOX Sports Carolinas, the television rights holder for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that 30 of the team’s 65 televised games in 2009-10 will be produced and distributed in high definition. The announcement means that Hurricanes fans throughout Carolina’s viewing territory this season will see twice as many high definition games as in 2008-09.

FOX Sports Carolinas’ coverage of live Hurricanes games will kick off on Oct. 2 with a high-definition telecast of Carolina’s season opener at the RBC Center against the Philadelphia Flyers. Fans will enjoy four or five high definition telecasts during each full month of the regular season, with the exception of March when eight of the Hurricanes’ games will be televised in high definition.

Time Warner Cable subscribers in the Triangle and surrounding areas can find FOX Sports Carolinas in high definition on channel 272. Subscribers to other carriers should check their on-screen guides, contact their providers or check www.CarolinaHurricanes.com prior to high definition telecasts for channel listings.

The regional sports networks serving the Southeast – FOX Sports Carolinas, FOX Sports South and FOX Sports Tennessee – collectively reach more than 12.6 million cable and satellite television households in seven states in the Southeast and are the television home of the Hurricanes, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats, Memphis Grizzlies and the Nashville Predators, as well as the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference. SportSouth reaches more than 9.4 million homes in six Southeastern states and is the television home of the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Thrashers and Southern Conference. SportSouth also offers expanded coverage of the University of Georgia, University of South Carolina and University of Tennessee. Combined, the four networks produce more than 800 live local events each year.
