Thanks to those of you who submitted photography of Hurricanes pride on display this summer. Here are some of the best entries I received, including the winner of my little contest.

Honorable mentions, Baby-style
The contest was really meant to draw vacation pictures, but I couldn’t resist putting up the Baby Caniac photos submitted. My own Baby Caniac attended his first game this past Friday night. I wouldn’t be surprised if these little ones were there too.

Baby Cade – Ashleigh sent in this photo of her newest addition, Cade, about eight hours after he was born. Cade’s older brother’s name is Cullen, perhaps even after our number eight.

Baby Luca – Tyler passed along this photo of eight-week-old Luca, at his first Hurricanes practice.

Baby Brooks Like me, Chris Juengel welcomed his first child this summer. Here is a photo of his son, Brooks Christopher, a Caniac born.

Honorable mentions, On Vacation:

Ryan Steele in Negril, Jamaica Ryan represented well on vacation in Jamaica.

Wisniewskis in Williamsburg Gregg Wisniewski and his family visited Williamsburg, Virginia. Traveling from their home in Connecticut, it looks like three of four Wisniewski’s wore their Caniac Pride in Colonial Williamsburg.

Erik Schmutzok in Saluda, NC – Erik’s mom, Shannon, sent this beautiful picture of her son during a waterfall hike they did in Western North Carolina. The waterfall Erik is looking at is Little Bradley Falls.

Ashley Strickland in NYC Ashley passed along this photo with her friend, Chrissy, in New York City in front of the Staten Island Ferry.

Davis Family at Grandfather Mountain – Jay Davis passed along this picture of his family (Austin, Weston and Charlotte) hiking at Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina this summer.

Slaughter Engagement Photo (IMG_0235) – It’s not exactly a vacation either, but kudos to Chris Slaughter and Carrie Trutt on a well-dressed engagement photo.

Third Runner-up:

Stevens Family at Curituck Lighthouse – Brian and Melissa Stevens traveled with their son, Cole, to the Outer Banks this summer. They snapped this photo displaying their Canes pride at the Currituck Lighthouse in Corolla, NC.

Second Runner-Up:

The Stouts in Washington, DC Arielle Stout and her brother, Nolan, represented the Hurricanes’ Finnish connection on the steps of the Capitol Building in Washington, DC.

First Runner-up:

Chad Guo at Disney World – Chad and his friends traveled to Orlando for ESPN the Weekend, and Chad brought along his Canes sweater. The two mascots with him in the photo are apparently High Steppin' Stu and Pete the Pachyderm. (Yeah, I have no idea either, but it makes for a funny picture.)

Grand Prize:

Phil Zaleskin in TokyoPhil and his wife, Diane, posed in their Hurricanes sweaters on the world-famous Ginza in Tokyo, Japan. Phil said that he and Diane attempted to “explain” to a resident there that they were hockey fans, using their best stick and puck pantomimes. As the winners of this GBTG contest, Phil and Diane may enjoy a Canes home game in October from my own seats, if they so choose.
