Canes Recall Brandon Sutter From Albany

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled center Brandon Sutter from Albany of the American Hockey League (AHL) and placed forward Erik Cole on injured reserve. The National Hockey League today announced that forward Tuomo Ruutu had been suspended for three games for a hit on Colorado right wing Darcy Tucker last night in Denver. Sutter will be available for tonight’s game in Minnesota.

Sutter, 20, has notched one goal and three assists (4 points) in seven games with Albany this season. The Hurricanes’ first-round selection in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Sutter made his NHL debut in 2008-09, totaling one goal and five assists (6 points) in 50 games for Carolina. He has tallied 18 points (6g, 12a) in 36 career AHL games with the River Rats, and this marks his first NHL recall of the 2009-10 season.
