Yelle Placed on Waivers

While it’s difficult to make much of an impression in that amount of time, minor penalties have not helped his cause. He took a hooking minor in the second period of the Minnesota game, after which he only played one shift. That infraction gave him 10 penalty minutes in the team’s 10 games.
The move does not guarantee that Yelle will be claimed, reassigned or even removed from the lineup. Just ask Frank Kaberle about that. However, Yelle is one a one-year deal worth just $550,000, making him an affordable addition for a team that needs a veteran center. To the best of my knowledge – still trying to confirm – he would clear sometime tomorrow. UPDATE - he would clear Tuesday at noon.
It is interesting that Yelle was placed on waivers after a solid season debut from Brandon Sutter, indicating that the Canes may be making room for him after an outstanding training camp. Practice is taking place at the moment (Yelle is practicing in his normal spot), and we’ll have more on the situation afterward.
