The arena EAST doors will be open beginning at 5 p.m. for anyone who would like to stop by. The fair has left town so traffic is at a “normal” rate around then.
As we have documented this year, the Capital City Crew is a new team in the NHL’s “Hockey is for Everyone” Initiative. The Crew is comprised of 33 kids from the various Girls and Boys Club of Wake County centers. Ages range from 9 to 13, but all have become passionate about hockey.
Some had played street hockey before, but no one on the team had played ice hockey until seven weeks ago. They just finished a seven-week-long “learn to play” instructional led by a great group of local hockey coaches. They begin their off-ice practices and life-skills classes in a few weeks, but Tuesday serves as the last time they will be on the ice for a while. This is a welcome treat to the Crew as they thought last week was their last week of ice.
They are all excited to take the ice at the RBC Center with our All-Star center. Hopefully you can join the fun.
