RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Jay Harrison from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. Rutherford also announced that defenseman Bryan Rodney, who was most recently recalled to Carolina on Dec. 3, has been reassigned to Albany.

Harrison, 27, played in 10 of Carolina’s first 13 games of 2009-10, before being assigned to Albany on Nov. 3. In his time with Carolina, Harrison scored a goal, earned two assists (3 points) and totaled 27 penalty minutes, while averaging 12:05 of ice time per game. The Oshawa, Ont., native has earned eight points (1g, 7a) and a plus-4 plus/minus rating in 15 AHL games since joining the River Rats.
