Canes to Make Community Visits for Holidays
Players will visit area hospitals, shop with underprivileged children
RALEIGH, NC— Doug Warf, Director of Community Relations and Executive Director of the Carolina Hurricanes’ Kids ‘N Community Foundation, today announced that all Hurricanes players will make community appearances on Monday, Dec. 14, and Tuesday, Dec. 15.
On Monday, four groups of players will go to Rex Hospital, WakeMed Hospital, North Carolina Children’s Hospital at UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke Children’s Hospital. Each hospital visit will begin between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m., except for the Duke visit, which will begin at 2 p.m. Players will take photos, sign autographs and distribute Hurricanes and NHL items to hospitalized children.
On Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m., four players will shop with four children at Target in the North Hills shopping center in Raleigh. Each player will be paired with a child, selected by the Durham Nativity School and StepUp Ministry, and help him or her with holiday shopping. The children will each receive a $150 Target gift card, courtesy of the Carolina Hurricanes, to help buy holiday gifts for their families.
