Canes Recall Jerome Samson from Albany

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Jerome Samson from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL). Samson will be available for the Hurricanes’ 2009-10 season finale on Saturday at Boston.

Samson, 22, leads all River Rats skaters and ranks second in the AHL with 37 goals this season, and his team-leading 78 points rank him fourth in the AHL. The Greenfield Park, Que., native was recently named to the AHL’s 2009-10 First All-Star Team, and was named the league’s Player of the Month for March. Samson (6’0”, 195 lbs.) made his NHL debut on Jan. 7 at Nashville and recorded an assist during his first NHL shift. This marks his third NHL recall this season. The Hurricanes signed Samson as a free agent on July 2, 2007.
