Canes Acquire Bobby Sanguinetti from NY Rangers

Carolina sends 2010 sixth-round pick and 2011 second-round pick to New York

RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has acquired defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti from the New York Rangers in exchange for Carolina’s 2010 sixth-round pick (157th overall) and Washington’s 2011 second-round pick.

Sanguinetti, 22, completed his second full professional season in 2009-10, splitting the season between the Rangers and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. Along with making his NHL debut, the Trenton, NJ, native scored nine goals, and earned 29 assists (38 points), in 61 AHL regular-season games last season. Sanguinetti (6’3”, 190 lbs.) has scored 15 goals and earned 69 assists (84 points) in 150 career AHL regular-season games with the Wolf Pack. The Rangers drafted Sanguinetti in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. His career statistics are below.
