Canes Announce Free Oct. 1 Preseason Game
Distribution of general admission tickets to begin Friday at ‘Canes Summer FunFest
RALEIGH, NC – Jon Chase, Director of Community Relations and Promotions for the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team’s preseason game against the Atlanta Thrashers, scheduled for Oct. 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the RBC Center, will be free to the public. Distribution of general admission tickets for the Oct. 1 game against Atlanta will begin at the third annual ‘Canes Summer FunFest on Friday, July 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the RBC Center, and will continue at various Hurricanes promotional appearances throughout the summer.
The first opportunity to pick up tickets for the free game will be the Summer Fun Fest from 5:30 - 9:00 p.m. The table will located outside of the RBC Center close to the team store, The Eye. Fans will be able to pick up a maximum of eight tickets per person.

Along with being the first opportunity for fans to get tickets for the free game, the ‘Canes Summer FunFest will feature the “State of the ‘Canes” address, hosted by radio voice Chuck Kaiton, as well as special guests, defenseman Joe Corvo and head coach Paul Maurice. The FunFest also will include live music, sledding on snow, free giveaways, interactive inflatables, artists painting live, discounted concessions and extended hours at the Hurricanes’ official team store, The Eye. The event will conclude with a viewing of the Hurricanes’ classic Game 7 against the Buffalo Sabres from the 2006 Eastern Conference Finals. Parking and admission for the ‘Canes Summer FunFest are free for all fans.
The Oct. 1, preseason game against Atlanta will serve as the Hurricanes’ “European sendoff,” and is being played at 1:30 p.m., as the team will depart for St. Petersburg, Russia, following the game. Carolina will play an exhibition game on Oct. 4, against SKA St. Petersburg of the Kontinental Hockey League, before traveling to Helsinki, Finland, for two regular-season games against the Minnesota Wild as a part of the 2010 Compuware NHL Premiere.
