Canes to Celebrate Opener with Downtown March

RALEIGH, NC – Doug Warf, Senior Director of Marketing for the Carolina Hurricanes and Executive Director of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation, today announced that the team will give away 200 pairs of tickets as part of a team-spirit march from the North Carolina State Capitol Grounds down Fayetteville Street to City Plaza on Monday. The event is in celebration of the Hurricanes’ home opening week, as Carolina hosts its first game at the RBC Center this season on Wednesday, Oct. 27, against the Washington Capitals.

Fans interested in participating should meet at the State Capital Grounds at 11:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, and are encouraged to wear Hurricanes gear and bring signs and noisemaking devices. After signing in at the Capitol, the fans will march as a group down Fayetteville St. from the Capitol Building to City Plaza beginning at 12:15 p.m. Stormy, members of the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad, Ron the Ref and Hurricanes vehicles will accompany the fans down Fayetteville St. At the conclusion of the march, the first 200 fans to have signed in dressed in Hurricanes attire will receive two free tickets to the team’s “Hockey Fights Cancer Night” against the New York Islanders on Nov. 3. In addition, the team will place a Bailey Box in five locations around town, and all participating fans will be given clues to finding a Bailey Box. Each Bailey Box will include tickets to the opening week games against the Capitals on Oct. 27, and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Oct. 30, as well as a gift from Bailey’s Fine Jewelry.

There will again be a Bailey Box placed in five Triangle locations on Tuesday morning. Like Monday’s Bailey Box giveaways, they will contain pairs of tickets to the games against Washington and Pittsburgh, as well as a gift from Bailey’s Fine Jewelry. The team will send out clues as to the location of each Bailey Box via its Twitter feed, http://twitter.com/nhl_canes.
