RALEIGH, NC – Doug Warf, Senior Director of Marketing for the Carolina Hurricanes and Executive Director of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation, today announced that the Kids ‘N Community Foundation has completed its fall grant process and will donate $234,871 to 27 different children’s charitable organizations of the Triangle and North Carolina.

The fall grant cycle is the first of two grant cycles for the 2010-11 season. This year, the Hurricanes will continue donations to many of the same organizations from 2009-10, as well as adding six new groups to the grant process. Among the new recipients is the North Carolina Children’s Hospital, which has received a commitment to provide therapeutic equipment in the newly renovated “Ice-Olation” play area of the hospital’s main play atrium. The Hurricanes-themed “Ice-Olation” unit will cover 305 square feet of the 2,008-square-foot play atrium. A conceptual drawing of the play area is attached to this release.

The 27 fall grant recipients are: Assistance League of Raleigh, April’s Angels. North Carolina Electric Wheelchair Hockey Association, Special Olympics of North Carolina, Hospice of Wake County – Horizons Grief Center, New Voices, Girls On The Run of the Triangle, Communities in Schools of Durham, North Carolina Arts in Action, YMCA of Chapel Hill-Carrboro, The CORRAL Riding Academy, North Carolina Theatre, Ronald McDonald House of Durham, The ArtsCenter, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern N.C., Children’s Flight of Hope, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle, Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, Triangle Special Hockey Association, StepUP Ministry, Kramden Institute, Triangle Youth Hockey of N.C., Boys and Girls Clubs of Wake County, First Tee of the Triangle, The Hill Center, North Carolina Children’s Hospital and PLM Families Together.
