Canes Set to Host Capitals on Wed. Home Opener
Team outlines festivities surrounding Wednesday’s and Saturday’s home-opening games
RALEIGH, NC – Jon Chase, Director of Community Relations and Promotions for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today outlined the details surrounding the team opening its 2010-11 home schedule this week.
The Hurricanes will host the Washington Capitals on Wednesday at the RBC Center in Carolina’s North American home opener (7 p.m., FOX Sports Carolinas HD, Hurricanes Radio Network). Beginning at 5 p.m., The Chris Hendricks Band will entertain fans during the Front Lawn Party presented by Custom Homes Exteriors, featuring inflatable games, street hockey and more. Hurricanes Radio Network flagship station 99.9 FM The Fan will broadcast live from the lawn party, including the station’s pre-game show Stormfront with Hurricanes insider Mike Maniscalco.
Upon entering the RBC Center for Wednesday’s game, fans can pick up a 2010-11 “Let’s Go Canes” cheer card, including a team roster, courtesy of Time Warner Cable. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:45 p.m., for a special pre-game ceremony, including former Hurricanes greats Rod Brind’Amour and Glen Wesley participating in the sounding of the Hurricane-warning siren. The team will reveal the 2011 All-Star Game banner during the first period, and a Hurricanes-themed window cling will be distributed as fans exit the RBC Center following the game.
