Canes Recall Dalpe and Carson from Charlotte

RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Zac Dalpe and defenseman Brett Carson from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). The players are being recalled on an emergency basis and will be available for the Hurricanes’ game tomorrow at the RBC Center against New Jersey (7 p.m., FOX Sports Carolinas HD, Hurricanes Radio Network).

Dalpe, 21, earned one assist and averaged 6:41 of ice time in seven games with the Hurricanes before being assigned to Charlotte on Oct. 31. With the Checkers, the Paris, Ont., native has scored 11 goals, earned 12 assists (23 points) and compiled a plus-11 plus/minus rating in 23 games. The Hurricanes drafted Dalpe (6’1”, 195 lbs.) in the second round, 45th overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Carson, 25, returns to the Hurricanes for the first time since being reassigned to Charlotte on Nov. 18. The Regina, Sask., native has played in three NHL games this season, averaging 12:39 of ice time. In 23 games with the Checkers, Carson (6’4”, 210 lbs.) has earned nine assists and recorded a plus-6 plus/minus rating. He has scored two goals and earned 10 assists in 62 NHL games with the Hurricanes since making his NHL debut on Dec. 7, 2008. The Hurricanes drafted Carson in the fourth round, 109th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
