Canes Reassign Brett Carson to Charlotte
Defenseman has played in Carolina’s last four games
RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned defenseman Brett Carson to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Carson was recalled from Charlotte on an emergency basis on Dec. 31, and played in Carolina’s last four games.
Carson, 25, has played in seven NHL games this season, averaging 10:22 of ice time per game and earning a plus-3 plus/minus rating. In 23 AHL games this season with Charlotte, Carson (6’4”, 210 lbs.) has earned nine assists and posted a plus-6 plus/minus rating. The Regina, Sask., native has played in 66 career NHL regular-season games, and has scored two goals and earned 10 assists (12 points). The Hurricanes drafted Carson in the fourth round, 109th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
