Canes to Host Draft Party at Rudino's Sports Corner
John Forslund to offer insight as the Hurricanes make their first-round selection
RALEIGH, NC – Jon Chase, Director of Community Relations and Promotions for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced details for the team’s 2011 NHL Entry Draft Party at Rudino’s Sports Corner on Friday, June 24. The event will begin at 6 p.m., with Versus’ television coverage beginning at 7 p.m. The Hurricanes hold the 12th pick in the draft’s first round.
The Draft Party will feature appearances by Hurricanes television voice John Forslund, Stormy, the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad and Ron the Ref, as well as games, raffles and contests. In honor of the fifth anniversary of the Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup championship in 2006, the third period of Game 7 of the 2006 Stanley Cup Final will be shown starting at 6:15 p.m.
This marks the second consecutive year Rudino’s Sports Corner has hosted the team’s draft party. Last June, fans gathered there as Carolina selected Jeff Skinner with the seventh overall pick. Skinner debuted with the Hurricanes last October, netted 31 goals in his first season, and is one of three finalists for the 2010-11 Calder Trophy, the NHL’s rookie of the year award.
Rudino’s Sports Corner is located in the Olde Raleigh Village shopping center, at 3101 Edwards Mill Rd., at the corner of Edwards Mill and Duraleigh Rds.
