In what’s shaped up to be a deeper draft than expected, the Hurricanes will have a chance to add another key piece to their future with the 12th overall pick in Minnesota tonight.

We’ll have plenty of interactive live coverage here on CarolinaHurricanes.com throughout the day, including a live chat starting at approximately 6:30 p.m. (the draft itself begins at 7). We’ll also have real-time reactions from the Hurricanes’ pick, Director of Amateur Scouting Tony MacDonald and General Manager Jim Rutherford. CanesVision will also be providing exclusive behind-the-scenes video as the night progresses.

On Saturday, which features Rounds 2-7, we’ll also be catching up whatever picks may be in attendance and gathering insight from MacDonald and Rutherford after the draft. We may do a live chat if time permits, but we’ll have updates on Twitter a live pick tracker on our site regardless.

To brush up on the players who should be in the mix for the Hurricanes’ first pick, check out our draft profile series, listed here:

You can also see the latest rankings from NHL Central Scouting here, which should come in handy on day two. A complete listing of Hurricanes draft history (really, draft history in general), is available here.

Be sure to follow nhl_canes, PaulBranecky and MikeSundheim on Twitter for updates about our coverage, news surrounding the draft and behind-the-scenes looks throughout the weekend.
