RALEIGH, NC – Jon Chase, Director of Community Relations and Promotions for the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced specifics regarding the team’s fourth annual Summer Fun Fest presented by 99.9 FM The Fan. The event will take place on Friday, July 22, on the south lawn of the RBC Center, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Parking and admission are free to the general public.

The fourth annual Summer Fun Fest is highlighted by the State of the Canes address, hosted by Hurricanes television play-by-play voice John Forslund and carried live on 99.9 FM The Fan at 8 p.m. Forslund will discuss the upcoming season with longtime Hurricanes forward Chad LaRose, and newly-named assistant coach Rod Brind’Amour.

During the Summer Fun Fest, fans can enjoy live music, more than 10 inflatables and games, sledding on snow, discounted concessions, free giveaways and appearances by Stormy and the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad. The event also serves as fans’ first chance to view available seat locations for 2011-12 full-season and 26-game ticket packages.

Fans also can take part in the Hot N’ Cold Eating Extravaganza during Summer Fun Fest, where participants race to eat a hot barbecue sandwich followed by an ice cream sandwich. The winner of the Hot N’ Cold Eating Extravaganza will win two 12-game ticket packages for the 2011-12 season. There is a $10 entry fee for participation in the extravaganza, with all proceeds benefiting the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. The Kids ‘N Community Foundation also will be holding a silent auction during the event, as well as the Canes Mystery Magnet Pick-up for $20.

The Summer Fun Fest will wrap up with a viewing of the Hurricanes’ come-from-behind win against Buffalo in Game 7 of the 2006 Eastern Conference Finals, beginning at 9 p.m. Please visit http://carhur.com/cdz for complete information about the fourth annual Summer Fun Fest, including registration information for the Hot N’ Cold Eating Extravaganza.
