  • 6:06 p.m.: This one's in the books. Stars win 8-2. Shots 37-19 for Dallas. Canes take on St. Louis Blues at 3 p.m. tomorrow. #CanesTC

  • 6:01 p.m.: Canes score on PP! Victor Rask. 3:20 left.

  • 5:58 p.m.: Matt Carter scores for Dallas on a bang-bang play. Pretty goal, actually. 8-1 Stars.

  • 5:55 p.m.: Just 8:04 remaining. Still 7-1 Dallas. The good news for Canes fans - Faulk + Murphy both dynamic, fun-to-watch defenseman.

  • 5:50 p.m.: Nine minutes into 3rd, still 7-1 Dallas. Shots are 34-16 for Stars.

  • 5:44 p.m.: Stars still lead 7-1 5:30 into 3rd. Shots 31-13 for Dallas.

  • 5:44 p.m.: Glennie digs the same post, off Parks' back, hit other post and somehow Parks got a glove to it to keep it out.

  • 5:40 p.m.: Glennie rings the post on Parks' glove side. #donthavetostoptheonesgoingwide

  • 5:38 p.m.: Mavric Parks in the Canes' net for 3rd. Went 28-17-7 for Saginaw (OHL) last year. Best name ever to don the red + white?

  • 5:19 p.m.: Stars' Matt Tassone whistled for tripping Austin Levi with 1.1 sec remaining in 2nd per. Canes to start 3rd on PP.

  • 5:15 p.m.: Stars take a 7-1 lead at 17:10. Scott Glennie from in front of Mahalak.

  • 5:14 p.m.: Jamie Oleksiak puts the Stars ahead 6-1 at 16:47 of 2nd period. Seeing-eye slap shot.

  • 5:12 p.m.: Canes trail Stars 5-1 with 5:12 left in 2nd period. Shots 22-9 for Dallas. Canes have turned momentum a bit.

  • 5:07 p.m.: Fun fact - Canes owner Peter Karmanos is at today's game. Came up from Detroit with the family.

  • 5:05 p.m.: Canes answer six seconds (9:09) later to make it 5-1. Tyler Carroll. Invitee from Guelph (OHL) - coached by Scott Walker.

  • 5:04 p.m.: Stars score at 9:03 of the 2nd per to make it 5-0. Matej Stransky.

  • 5:00 p.m.: No goals thus far in 2nd per. 6:48 in. Teams have traded power plays to no avail. Shots 19-4 for Dallas.

  • 4:59 p.m.: Mattias Lindstrom whistled for holding, 2:38 into 2nd per. Stars to PP. Dallas leads shots 13-3.

  • 4:51 p.m.: We're back underway in Traverse City. We'll see if the same goal where Dallas scored four will open up for the Canes. #CanesTC

  • 4:31 p.m.: Canes kill off Stars power play. 1:05 left in 1st per. Stars up 4-0. Lead 12-2 on shot clock.

  • 4:29 p.m.: Big right pad save by Mahalak on a point-blank chance. One minute left on Stars PP.

  • 4:28 p.m.: First penalty of the game goes to Austin Levi. 2 min slashing. Stars PP. 3:07 left in 1st per.

  • 4:22 p.m.: News that should've been passed along earlier: Justin Faulk given the captain's "C" for tourney.

  • 4:21 p.m.: Shots now 10-2 in favor of Dallas. 8:29 left in 1st period.

  • 4:16 p.m.: Stars score off the faceoff after puck rebounds off Mahalak's pads. Matt Fraser.

  • 4:14 p.m: Stephen Schultz's wrister finds its way thru traffic and to the far post behind Mahalak. Stars ahead 3-0.

  • 4:11 p.m.: Stars go ahead 2-0 on a nifty backhand goal from point-blank range. Matt Tassone.

  • 4:10 p.m.: Stop in play for icing. 3:45 in, Dallas Stars ahead 4-0 on shot clock.

  • 4:09 p.m.: Def pairs: Rissanen-Murphy, Lowe-Faulk, Levi-Krueger.

  • 4:08 p.m.: Canes lines: Pitt-Rask-Staal, Goodrow-Hofmann-Shugg, Lindstrom-Sutter-Mitchell, Carroll-Benson-Heitkamp.
