Canes Recall Justin Peters from Charlotte
RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled goaltender Justin Peters from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). To make room for Peters on the roster, goaltender Mike Murphy was reassigned to Charlotte.

Peters, 25, has posted a 6-6-1 record, a 2.49 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage in 14 games with Charlotte this season. He was named the Reebok/AHL Goaltender of the Month for November after posting a 5-1-1 record with a 1.63 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage in seven appearances. The Blythe, Ont., native spent all of 2010-11 with the Hurricanes, and posted a 3-5-1 record in 12 appearances with Carolina. Peters (6’1”, 205 lbs.) is in his sixth professional season, and has compiled a 9-8-1 record and 3.49 goals-against average in 21 career NHL games. The Hurricanes drafted Peters in the second round, 38th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
