Canes Alumni to Replace Stolen Gifts for Army Family
RALEIGH, NC – Shane Willis, Youth and Amateur Hockey Coordinator and Carolina Hurricanes alumnus, will visit Fort Bragg on Thursday, Dec. 22, to deliver holiday presents to a military family who had their gifts stolen, just weeks before Christmas. Hurricanes mascot Stormy and representatives from the Hurricanes’ Community Relations department will assist Willis in delivering the presents, which were purchased by members of the Carolina Hurricanes Alumni Association.

The family of Army SSG Patrick Jacobson returned home on Friday, Dec. 9, to discover that their home had been broken into. Among the many possessions stolen were all of the family’s holiday presents. Jacobson is scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan early in 2012, and had recently sold his truck in order to buy the gifts for his family.
