On Thursday, Jan. 19, defenseman Derek Joslin and forward Anthony Stewart spent the afternoon at the John Avery Boys and Girls Club in Durham. They took time to speak with after-school participants and lead hockey drills in the gym. Stormy even pitched in to help and played goaltender.

The John Avery Boy and Girls Club, established in 1942, serves over 780 children from 27 schools. Their after-school program fee of $10 per child is highly subsidized with annual gifts from donors and grants from organizations like the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation.
