This Wednesday, Jeff Skinner
will be the guest on the 10th and final edition of Canes Corner at Backyard Bistro for the 2011-12 season. Given the attendance at the first nine shows of this season and the crowd for Jeff’s show last season, we expect a capacity, if not greater-than-capacity crowd. That’s a good thing, but it also needs some structure to be successful and enjoyable for all involved.
For the record, this is the Canes Corner Autography Policy as it has been posted on the Canes Corner page
at CarolinaHurricanes.com since the show’s move to Backyard Bistro for the 2010-11 season:
Autograph policy: Thirty fans at each Canes Corner show will have the opportunity to receive one autograph each. Fans will be drawn at random and will be selected 10 minutes prior to the start of the show. Ten fans will get an autograph during the first commercial break, 10 fans will get an autograph during the second commercial break and 10 fans will get an autograph when the show concludes.
Many of our Canes Corner regulars know that enforcement of the above policy has been fairly loose, especially as it pertains to, A) The number of items each person gets signed, and B) The number of people who get autographs after the show.
In an effort to add more structure to the proceedings, the Canes Corner Autograph Policy will be amended to the following:
Autograph policy: Seventy fans at each Canes Corner show will have the opportunity to receive one autograph each. Fifteen minutes prior to the show, 45 tickets will be drawn at random and those fans with the matching tickets in hand will be given bracelets to receive an autograph during either the first commercial break (10 bracelets), second commercial break (10 bracelets) or after the show (25 bracelets). Upon the show’s conclusion, 25 more tickets will be drawn at random and fans with those tickets in hand will be given bracelets and immediately will get in line for an autograph. Bracelets will be collected when fans receive their autograph. Parents may accompany small children, but please note that one bracelet = one person getting one autograph.
Given this increase in the number of autograph bracelets that will be distributed, enforcement of the policy will be strict.
Friends, unfortunately there is no perfect system for this, and inevitably there will be those who will be disappointed no matter what system is employed. We feel this policy provides significant opportunity for a substantial number of fans to receive an autograph, while keeping things reasonable for everyone involved.
