Canes Agree to Terms with Bobby Sanguinetti
Defenseman ranked third in the AHL in assists and points in 2011-12

“Bobby had a very strong second half of the season with Charlotte,” said Francis. “He has put himself in a position to challenge for a spot on our NHL roster this season.”
Sanguinetti, 24, totaled 50 points (10g, 40a) in 60 games for the Hurricanes’ top minor-league affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL, in 2011-12. The Trenton, NJ, native ranked third among AHL defensemen in assists (40) and points (50) and led Charlotte blueliners in goals (10). Sanguinetti (6’3”, 190 lbs.) also appeared in three NHL games with Carolina, making his Hurricanes debut against the New York Rangers on March 13.
Selected by the New York Rangers in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Sanguinetti has skated in five career NHL games with the Rangers and Hurricanes, totaling four penalty minutes. He has scored 28 goals and earned 121 assists (149 points) in 241 career AHL games with Hartford and Charlotte.
