RALEIGH, NC – Doug Warf, Senior Director of Marketing for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes and Executive Director of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation, today announced that registration is now open for the 15th Annual Kids ‘N Community Golf Tournament presented by Volvo Construction Equipment. The 2012 tournament will take place at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary on Oct. 8, and will have an 11 a.m. shotgun start.

As in years past, Hurricanes players, coaches, broadcasters and management will join each participating foursome. Each registered golfer will receive a gift bag valued at $250, on-course food and beverage and a tax receipt for participation. Following the tournament, golfers will enjoy a reception where prizes will be awarded to the tournament’s top teams and individual-hole contest winners. Prior to the tournament, participants will receive two tickets to a Hurricanes preseason game. Following the game, golfers will attend a pairings party with the team and meet the Hurricanes representatives they will play with at the tournament.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Volvo Construction Equipment will sponsor the tournament, which is one of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation’s biggest fundraisers. The 2011 tournament raised $106,000 for the Foundation, which awarded $ 534,852 to 53 different children’s charities and foundations in 2011-12. The Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation provides much needed funding to children’s charities and education programs throughout North Carolina. The Foundation has funded scholarship programs, youth hockey, educational and literacy efforts, children’s health programs, the arts and other children’s related initiatives. Annually, the Foundation provides cash and in-kind contributions of more than $1 million to charitable and educational programs in North Carolina. Every member of the Hurricanes organization is actively involved in community activities and the Hurricanes take great pride in the ability to have a positive impact in our state.
