RALEIGH, NC – Carolina Hurricanes Head Coach Kirk Muller, and Hurricanes players Joe Corvo and Chad LaRose, will participate in this weekend’s Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic in Raleigh. Along with Muller, Corvo and LaRose, Hurricanes television play-by-play voice John Forslund will golf and will serve as emcee for the weekend, continuing his longtime affiliation with the V Foundation.

Events surrounding the Golf Classic get underway on Friday, and will culminate on Sunday as the celebrity field tees off at 9:30 a.m. at Lonnie Pool Golf Course on North Carolina State University’s Centennial Campus in Raleigh. The Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic began in 1994, and has raised more than $19 million for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The Golf Classic and the V Foundation for Cancer Research are named for former NC State men’s basketball coach Jim Valvano, who, along with ESPN, formed the Foundation in 1993 prior to losing his battle against bone cancer. The Hurricanes have been involved in supporting the V Foundation and the Golf Classic since arriving in North Carolina in 1997.
