Community: Skate with the Canes Enters 15th Year

At last year’s Skate with the Canes, Jay Harrison said, “I think everyone wins at Skate with the Canes. It’s a great day! You get to see the season ticket holders face-to-face and meet some friendly fans, our biggest supporters. They are our foundation and keep us going out there, and it’s a great support.”

The 15th annual Skate with the Canes fundraiser for the Kids ‘N Community Foundation will be held on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, from 6-9 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and have limited availability.

Patrons are split up into groups and rotate through three sessions: skating, autographs and locker room photo session. Hurricanes players will also be divided into three groups and will rotate opposite of patrons so that each group will get to meet each player.

  • Skating: Have you ever wanted to skate on PNC Arena ice? During this session you will be able to skate alongside Hurricanes players or even take a shot in the skills 'n' drills area. For those who do not want to skate, you can sit on the Hurricanes bench and the players will skate over to meet you.
  • Autograph: In this session, you can get your Hurricanes memorabilia signed by the players in the group. This session also includes an exciting opportunity to meet the Carolina Hurricanes’ broadcasters, John Forslund, Tripp Tracy and Chantel McCabe.
  • Locker Room Photo: Patrons will get one of the first views of the newly renovated Carolina Hurricanes locker room. You do not want to forget your camera as you are able to sit with the players in the locker room stalls and weight room to take a photo.

Skate with the Canes is a unique, unforgettable experience, and you do not want to miss out. Where else will you get to skate alongside Eric Staal, chat with Jay Harrison and shake hands with Cam Ward? Not only is this a fun, family-friendly event, but you are giving back to the community as well. Last year, Skate with the Canes raised nearly $40,000 for the Kids ‘N Community Foundation that supports children’s charities in North Carolina.

Tickets are $75 for this priceless experience, and a portion of the ticket price will be tax deductible. Tickets include admission, food and beverage, skate rentals and a premium gift and poster from the Foundation. Imagine surprising your kids with tickets or getting them as a Valentine’s Day gift for the special Caniac in your life.

There are only 600 tickets available, so hurry and get yours today! They can be purchased at the PNC Arena Box Office, through Caniac Account Manager, through Ticketmaster or by calling (919) 861-5474.
