Checkers’ leading scorer earns first NHL recall

Terry, 23, leads all Checkers skaters this season with 22 goals and 46 points, and is tied for the team lead with 24 assists, while playing in 55 of the team’s 58 games. The Brampton, Ont., native led Charlotte in assists (43) and points (59) in 2011-12, and has scored 89 goals and earned 127 assists (216 points) in 290 career AHL regular-season games with Albany and Charlotte. Prior to turning professional, Terry (5’10”, 197 lbs.) notched 114 goals and earned 175 assists (289 points) in 253 regular-season games during four seasons with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The Hurricanes drafted Terry in the fifth round, 132nd overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
