Canes Recall Riley Nash from Charlotte
Forward has six points in 16 NHL games this season
Nash, 23, rejoins the Hurricanes after being reassigned to Charlotte on March 22, and scoring two goals in the Checkers’ 4-2 win at Texas on Saturday. Nash (6’1”, 191 lbs.) is in his third full professional season and has registered three goals, three assists (6 points) and a plus-2 rating in 16 games with the Hurricanes this season. He ranks tied for second among Charlotte skaters in assists (24) and plus/minus (+14), and fourth in points (37), despite having played in just 51 of the team’s 65 games this season.
Born in Consort, Alb., but raised in Kamloops, B.C., Nash has played 21 career NHL games with the Hurricanes, earning seven points (3g, 4a). He was acquired by Carolina from Edmonton on June 26, 2010, in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft. Originally selected by the Oilers in the first round, 21st overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Nash completed a three-year career at Cornell University with 102 points (37g, 65a) in 102 games.
