Canes Announce Development Camp Roster, Schedule
RALEIGH, NCRon Francis, Vice President of Hockey Operations for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the roster and schedule for the team’s 2013 Development and Skills camp, to be held from July 16-20 at PNC Arena. The camp’s on-ice sessions will be open to the public and media, and the week will be capped with a game and skills competition on Saturday, July 20, as part of the Hurricanes Summerfest celebration.

All four of Carolina’s selections in the 2013 NHL Draft – Elias Lindholm (5th overall), Brett Pesce (66th overall), Brent Pedersen (126th overall) and Tyler Ganly (156th overall) will be making their first trips to Raleigh as members of the Hurricanes organization. Other top drafted prospects attending the camp include Ryan Murphy (2011, first round), Victor Rask (2011, second round), Keegan Lowe (2011, third round), Phillip Di Giuseppe (2012, second round), Brock McGinn (2012, second round) and Daniel Altshuller (2012, third round). The Summerfest celebration on begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 at PNC Arena. Along with the prospects game and skills competition, the event features an autograph session with the camp’s participants and a State of the Hurricanes discussion hosted by Canes television play-by-play announcer John Forslund. The family-friendly celebration also includes more than 20 interactive inflatables, games and experiences, giveaways, guest speakers from the Hurricanes, appearances by Stormy and the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad, discounted concessions, hockey games and extended hours for The Eye team store. Parking and admission are free, with the majority of the event held inside PNC Arena.

The Hurricanes are also hosting a school supply drive in conjunction with Summerfest, which benefits North Carolina children’s homes and literacy programs. The drive will run from Monday, July 15 through the end of Summerfest on Saturday, July 20. Collection bins will be located at the VIP entrance of PNC Arena throughout the week during normal business hours and during Select-a-Seat sessions. Bins also will be placed in the East Priority Lounge during Development and Skills camp public practices. A full list of items needed is available on the website for Summerfest here.
