Canes Elite Camp Set for July 22-26 at PNC Arena
The Elite Camp returns for its second year.
RALEIGH, NCRon Francis, Vice President of Hockey Operations for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will hold the second annual Carolina Hurricanes Elite Camp from July 22-26, 2014. The Hurricanes Elite Camp is a premiere experience for high-level players, through which participants receive instruction directly from Head Coach Kirk Muller and his staff of Rod Brind’Amour, Dave Lewis, John MacLean and Greg Stefan.

The Canes Elite Camp will take place in conjunction with the Hurricanes Prospects Development Camp, which brings the team’s top drafted players to PNC Arena in July. The Elite Camp is open to U-18, U-16 and U-14 AAA and AA players, and participants will use the NHL ice and facilities at PNC Arena. The unique camp offers players a chance to receive nearly-identical training and instruction from Hurricanes coaches and staff as the drafted players at the Prospects Development Camp.

Registration for the 2014 Elite Camp is $700 per person and will be available online. Participants can receive a $50 discount if they pay in full by Dec. 15. In addition, there is an option to make a $200 deposit by Dec. 15 and pay $100 per month from Jan. 15-May 15 ($700 total). Camp space is limited to the first 54 players: 24 skaters and three goalies for two groups.

Players at the U-12, U-10 and U-8 advanced levels can register for the Canes Power Skating Clinic, which will also be held from July 22-26 at PNC Arena. For one hour per day, participants will receive power skating instruction from elite skating coach Kim Muir. Muir has an extensive background that includes mentoring Hurricanes players on the NHL and American Hockey League levels. Placement for the Canes Power Skating Clinic is $150.

In addition to the player camps, hockey coaches from all levels can gain knowledge and expertise directly from Muller and his NHL staff at the Canes Coaches’ Clinic from July 25-26. Participation in the Canes Coaches’ Clinic costs $125 is open to michcoaches of all ages and abilities.
