Additionally, Alexander Semin has been placed on injured reserve with a concussion.
RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has activated forward Jeff Skinner from injured reserve. Skinner is eligible to play for the Hurricanes tonight at Detroit. The team also placed forward Alexander Semin on injured reserve with a concussion sustained in the team’s game at St. Louis on Nov. 16.

Skinner, 21, has missed the Hurricanes’ last 11 games with an upper body injury sustained in the team’s game on Oct. 24 at Minnesota. Prior to suffering the injury, Skinner led the Hurricanes in scoring with nine points (3g, 6a) in 10 games played, and his plus-5 plus/minus rating ranks first on the team. The Markham, Ont., native and 2010-11 Calder Trophy winner is in his fourth NHL season with Carolina after the team drafted him in the first round (7th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
